World Mental Health Day: Psychological First Aid

by Becky - 10th October 2016

Today is World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme is ‘psychological first aid’; the support that we offer people who experience trauma, crises and distress.

“Around 1 in 3 adults in England report having experienced at least one traumatic event”.

This can be anything from serious illness to a natural disaster, and can have a severe impact on a person’s mental wellbeing.

IAPT services deal daily with the effects that traumatic events have had on their patients, but occasionally communities as a whole are affected, which brings with it it’s own challenges.

We wanted to take the opportunity to remind you all that if the worst should happen, and your community is affected by a local crisis such as flooding or a high profile crime, the labels tool in iaptus can really help support your service.

By setting up a label to tag any referrals received that are related to the crisis, you can track the impact that it has on your service.

We are aware of a few services that have used labels in this way, and in some instances it has helped them to secure additional funding to respond to the rise in demand for support.

If you would like to know more about the labels feature, contact your account manager who will be able to give you more information.
