Celebrate the brain: Brain Awareness Week

by Helen - 13th March 2018

Every March, Brain Awareness Week raises public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research. The global campaign by the Dana Foundation aims to engage people with neuroscience through activities and events to celebrate the brain including lectures, film screenings, festivals, school workshops and exhibitions.

In the UK, we have research leadership and capacity across universities and research institutes working with the NHS to improve diagnosis, treatment and support for those facing mental health problems. The availability of rich data sets for psychological therapies gives researchers opportunities to explore patients’ experiences of mental illness and the medical, psychological and social factors that put people at risk. Research plays an important role in improving the quality and effectiveness of psychological treatments.

Brain Awareness Week takes place 12-18 March 2018. Visit the British Neuroscience Association for the full listing of events in the UK. Follow the conversation on twitter #BrainWeek and Facebook Brain Awareness Week.
