Innovations in digital e-interventions: using online research to systematically IMPROVE interventions for depression
Professor Ed Watkins, Director of SMART Lab, University of Exeter. Introduction by Fennie Wiepkema, Director UK at Minddistrict
There are two key challenges to tackling the burden of depression. Firstly, improving access to effective interventions and secondly to better understand how therapy actually works to make it more potent and cost-effective. This presentation explores innovations from internet CBT research which begin to address these challenges. Evidence that online CBT can prevent depression in at risk adults and young people (e.g., MindReSolve) will be followed by unpacking the active ingredients of internet CBT for depression in an ongoing – IAPT embedded – factorial trial known as IMPROVE.
