Recap: MindTech Conference

by Becky - 15th December 2016

Last week we attended the much anticipated annual MindTech Mental Health Symposium 2016 at the Royal College of Physicians in London. The Mayden team looks forward to this event every year – there’s always a buzzing atmosphere, lots of great ideas and fascinating conversations around two things we’re passionate about: mental health and IT.

This year didn’t disappoint. The event focussed on how digital can be used in mental healthcare to improve access, create more efficient and flexible services, and improve outcomes.

It brought together leaders in clinical practice, patient experience, academic research, industry and technology development, to discuss and address key challenges in building an evidence base to support the use of new technologies in mental healthcare.

Highlights included a keynote from David Clark, who reminded us just how far IAPT has come and gave us a glimpse of the role digital will play in its future. James Woollard gave an impressive presentation as always. He reminded us that advances in technology can only take us part way there – and that one of our biggest challenges is to create a workplace culture that is open to the adoption of technology.

We took away some great ideas on how we could improve our own software. And we came away from the conference feeling grateful to be working in such an important industry. We’re looking forward to hearing how things have progressed at the conference next year.
